3 Reasons You Fail At Generating Leads

Not Generating The Leads You Need To Make Money?  Here’s 3 Reasons Why

I bet when you first started your business, your first priorities were business cards, brochures, incorporating, and a website.

Then, you probably started trying to find all the networking events in your area to generate leads.

Maybe next you started a business Facebook and Twitter page to connect with potential clients.

And when no sales were coming in you probably had a few moments of self doubt, pity, a couple of  “can I really do this?” moments and maybe you even got mad that people were so stupid not to notice how great you are and pass you up on your services.

You say to yourself, ” I know my stuff”, “my competition doesn’t know half of what I know”.

But, you are left with a drying up bank account and you’ve spent money getting the business up and running but you have no real leads coming in.

Is this really supposed to be this hard?  Well, as you have probably figured out by now starting a business is hard, and you need to generate leads to boost your profits, right?

Most people quit and accept defeat feeling like there’s just too much against them.

Others, like you, search the web to try and find the answer.  But its hard trying to figure out what to do that will work.

So, today we’re going to talk about common mistakes that causes your lead generation to fail over and over again.

Fail #1: Your Marketing Materials Are All About YOU!

Even with all the new marketing tricks, flips and guru secrets, some things remain the same, and that is, its ALL about the customer.

When you write your brochures, postcards, flyers, and speak to people, your language should be about them NOT about you.

This goes for your website too! Your website should not be filled with info about your services or products and how awesome your company is, save it for your “About Us” page.

No one cares who you are, who I am or anyone else.  People want to know what’s in it for ME.

They want results and benefits…and they want it fast or their on to the next website who gives them what they want.

Lead generation starts and ends with the customer in mind.

Fail #2: Your Network Marketing Sucks!

It doesn’t matter where you go or what you’re doing.  Anytime you are out and about showcasing your business you are marketing your business to generate leads.

But, who really wants another business card for another service they aren’t interested in at the moment?

You’re in a room with all these potential clients and you have nothing to offer that’s gonna make you stand out.

Why not offer something of huge value for free right there at the event.  When it’s your turn to speak, let everyone know what you’re giving away!

That’s a sure fire way to get noticed and get free leads, not many people will turn down something of huge value for free.

Giving something away will not only make yo memorable but it will generate leads so fast your head will spin!

Fail #3-You Don’t Blog

I don’t know how many business owners come into business in today’s economic system and refuse to blog.

It just downright stupid, and I don’t mean that offensively but there is so much information out there now, that hoping your sitting website that doesn’t generate any fresh new content will be found is leaving so much up for chance.

Generating leads through your blog gives you the opportunity to reach people you would have never reached before.

There are so many topics that can be covered in your industry that people search for everyday, where if you aren’t blogging you are just leaving money on the table.

So, generate leads through your blog with sign up forms so you can begin to cultivate a relationship with your leads and ease them into a sale.

Otherwise, you will be left to continue doing what you’ve always done and we know that doesn’t work.

So what’s the best path for generating leads offline?

For prospects to remember you in a time where everyone is trying to get everyone’s attention, its hard to be memorable.

And it takes time to build a valuable relationship one by one.  And no one has time like that to grow a business.

Now, I’m not promising you’ll be a millionaire overnight, but I am saying that you can have warm qualified leads by offering something of huge value.

Give a link to a free report or giveaway and have them opt in to view the report.

When you start to offer awesome freebies at your networking events or on your website, watch your competition run in fear!

Giving is still the best way to receive and its no difference when running a business.

So here’s what I want you to do next:

  1. Leave a comment and tell me if this has helped you and what areas you are struggling in.
  2. If you have not subscribed yet, click here to get free updates so we can stay in touch.
  3. Give.  Share this with anyone you know who is in the same boat as you who needs to generate leads.

Again, as always, I’m sincere about your business being bigger than you ever imagined, and its my honor to be able to serve you!

Dream Big,
